  • On pursuing tennis as a passion at ASD?

    I have always been a passionate tennis player ever since I started playing. When I moved to ASD in fifth grade I wanted to play tennis for my school so I pushed myself and worked on my game and in ninth grade I had my first tryout. I made the varsity tennis team in my freshman year and have been on the team ever since. In my sophomore year, we won MESAC gold as a team, and in my junior year, we attained silver. Playing tennis for ASD has always been a huge part of my life and I love the idea of not only playing for myself but representing something bigger than myself- my school community.

  • Other initiatives besides this tennis tournament?

    Ever since I started the NGO “FirstServe” in 2022 I have been able to help my initiative in many ways. This year, I partnered up with the charity CRY (Child Rights and You) and organized tennis tournaments locally for the cause; I charged a small entrance fee, which was then donated to CRY. I have also organized tennis tournaments for kids under ten by partnering up with Spadoni Tennis Academy. I also organized a tournament with Pro Tennis Academy; I enlisted Taj Dubai as a sponsor, who funded prizes that helped attract more players.
    During Spring Break this year, I organized three tennis tournaments with Maxtennis Academy and The Claridges Hotel in New Delhi. The proceeds from these tournaments were donated to CRY Lastly, I organized a national wheelchair tennis tournament with DLTA (Delhi Lawn Tennis Association) and AITA (All India Tennis Association) where people of determination came together from all over India and took part in the tournament.

  • How the ASD community, teachers, peers, classes, or values helped or encouraged you?

    The ASD community has always been supportive of me no matter what team or initiative I wanted to start. My peers had always encouraged me to try out for the tennis team because they knew I had been training almost my whole life. When my peers found out about First Serve they were there for me with anything I needed and wanted to help me grow my NGO as large as possible. I would also love to host charity tennis tournaments for ASD students on the school’s premises and am currently in talks with the school administration to make this dream a reality. My teachers have also been supportive of my interest in tennis and philanthropy both inside and outside of the class.
